Forming Christian Leaders To Transform Society

At Canyon Heights Academy, we serve the needs of children from 18 months through 8th grade. We provide an atmosphere of academic rigor and critical thinking, while offering personalized attention in a Christ-centered, Catholic environment of faith and reason.

Our educational and pedagogical approach is different from other private schools in San Jose. At Canyon Heights, we base our curriculum on the international Regnum Christi Integral Formation Model, which is focused on the harmonious development of all dimensions of the human person. From our small class sizes to our varied co-curricular activities and village-minded community, everything we do at CHA reflects our commitment to the cultivation of young people ready to embrace their mission to transform society with God's love.

Early Montessori

Our early Montessori program (18–36 months) utilizes an experiential, hands-on approach that nurtures a child’s natural desire to learn.

Montessori Preschool

Our preschool program combines a strong foundational curriculum with proven Montessori methods to foster the academic, physical, emotional, and spiritual development of children ages 3–5.

Kindergarten

Our kindergarten program combines Montessori concepts and traditional classroom learning to allow for an intentional and smooth preparation for grade school. Kindergarten students matriculate to grade school capable of reading chapter books as well as solving multi-digit addition and subtraction and basic multiplication problems. These students are also role models to the preschool students at their weekly Masses.

Lower School (GRADES 1-5)

Our lower school promotes strong academics coupled with positive behavioral habits and a love for learning. Each child receives one-on-one attention to discover his or her unique talents and motivations while engaging in peer-to-peer projects to promote community-building and social-emotional growth. At the end of lower school, students will have read various literary genres, mastered multiplication and division, applied the scientific process to various experiments, and developed a strong moral compass fostered by weekly Mass attendance and monthly Adoration.

Middle School (GRADES 6-8)

Our middle school employs a rigorous but balanced academic curriculum that prepares students to transition into a college-preparatory high school. At the end of middle school, graduates will have mastered algebra, become comfortable with various modes of writing and self-advocacy, learned the cornerstones of American history, experimented with scientific principles and executed various STEM projects, honed Spanish and Latin language skills, and deepened their faith formation through apostolic service projects and spiritual retreats.
What Our Families Are Saying
“Canyon Heights has provided, is providing, and will provide each of our six children the skills, knowledge, and virtues they need to thrive academically, spiritually, and vocationally. Our two Canyon Heights graduates are now excelling in high school, and we have every confidence that they and their younger siblings will continue to do thrive into college and adulthood.”
The Sonne Family
A Faith-based Philosophy That Works
At Canyon Heights, religion is more than a subject in school — it’s our foundation. Our students develop spiritually through age-appropriate instruction in the Catholic faith and fostering a personal relationship with Christ. Through the process of Integral Formation, we nurture the whole person — mind, heart, body, and spirit — to help students connect their faith to their daily lives with joy and purpose.
