One distinction of Canyon Heights Academy is its school-wide development of public speaking skills as part of forming our students into genuine Christian leaders. A leader is not just the “boss,” but a leader is one that others will follow. A good leader inspires and creates trust, and frequently those characteristics are exhibited in their manner of speaking.
Beginning in our youngest grades, students have multiple opportunities to speak in front of various audiences. A student beginning in Preschool at 3 will have had over 60 opportunities to speak publicly in front of a large audience by the time they graduate from eighth grade. The annual All Saints and Christmas programs, the Spring Musical and Speech Exhibition are natural times to practice and gain skill and confidence in public speaking. In addition, our Spelling Bee and Science Fair involve presenting yourself and your knowledge to experts as well as parents.
