CHA Parents Association (CHAPA)

Canyon Heights Academy parents are not required to volunteer; however parent involvement is a key element to building both our parent community and our school. The spirit and sense of community that pervades Canyon Heights comes from our parents’ willingness to support Canyon Heights activities.

Committee List
The spirit and sense of community that pervades Canyon Heights Academy comes from our willingness to support Canyon Heights activities. The Holy Spirit works within each parent through their generous gifts of time and talents to build the community and the school. CHAPA and its committees play an important role in the many activities and events throughout the year. Below is a list of committees and a brief description of their purpose:

Fall Kick Off
A festive, all school event — food, friends and fun for the entire family!

March Dadness Basketball Tournament
Plans and executes all-school basketball tournament for dads, priests and families.

Father/Daughter Dance
Designs, organizes and runs the Father/Daughter Dance, which is a very special annual event for fathers to bond with their daughters.

Room Volunteers
Supports teaching staff and class parents in communications and activities, including Class Socials. Duties include: communicating with parents and teachers via SchoolSpeak; planning the “Fall Class Social;” organize a raffle basket for Fall Kick-Off; organize class holiday parties and birthday celebrations; plan the class auction gift; submit class photo and ad for auction program; organize any grade-specific special events.

Book Fair
Organize, setup up, and execution of the annual book fair including coordination of supporting vendors.

Buddy System Program
Helping new families feel welcomed and integrated as part of the CHA community.

Sacristy Committee
Assists with liturgical preparations in the Chapel.

Helping Hands
Coordinates support when a member of the school community is in need of prayers or assistance.

Lenten Market
Student market featuring hand-crafted wares held during Lent. Proceeds go towards the school-wide apostolic project.

Media Center
Helps coordinate work and projects with library volunteers.

Mom’s Committee
Coordinates two to three events for school moms to gather and mingle.

Reception and Party Committee
Coordinates decorations and planning for school events like the parent coffees, Christmas programs, Lower School Spring Play, Middle School Film Festival and the Father-Daughter Dance.

Teacher Appreciation
Coordinates Teacher Appreciation events at Christmas and Teacher Appreciation Week.

Uniform Sales and Exchange
Manages the collection of old uniform and All Saints Day Costume items and coordinates the sale of them.

Yearbook
Helps with photographing events throughout the year and uploading photographs. Helps create yearbook pages through a simple drag-drop-and-crop system that can be done on your own time and at home.
